I have always wondered if the dual ended coils used on the motorcycles could
be used on a larger displacement engine, with a typical high energy
capacitive discharge system (like an MSD 6A). Has anyone tried this? Can
these "smaller" coils handle the energy discharge?
MSD sells a dual ended coil for motorcycle applications. I haven't checked
in a long time if they make one for automotive applications.
In about 5 years or so there will be bunches of dual ended coils in the
junkyards. More and more manufacturers are going to DIS.
