HEI dizzy problem solved

     Thanks everyone who contributed,
     
     Yes the problem turned out to be a bad tacho signal, the signal needed 
     to be ac coupled and dc limited.  I had to limit it to 12V otherwise 
     it gets too hard to watch the signal on most tune-up equipment.
     
     Darrell N, you wrote about yours having a dizzy capacitor ac coupling 
     your tacho signal, I'm a bit limited with books on US cars here in OZ, 
     but what I have got makes no mention of this cap, so it seems like 
     someones innovation.
