Oh I wouldn't go that far.  The hoax note is itself the email (pseudo)virus;
his mailbox was 'infected' with the note, and he turned around
and infected all of our mailboxes with it.  No automatic infection/
transport mechanism, no serious system side-effects, but still a virus
of sorts...
