     As far as I'm aware the EGR sits in the manifold, while it is only the 
     bottom of the throttle body that circulates water (miles from the 
     EGR).
     
     I think it may be used to keep the throttle body at a constant 
     temperature to avoid minor power fluctuations caused by inlet 
     temperature changes.  I may be wrong, but I think it sounds like a 
     reasonable explanation ?
