I can't remember the name of the company, but there is a European company
doing some really interesting work on efficient (fuel and emissions) two
stroke engines. They were using an injector that spit out an extremely fine
spray of fuel. I saw a comparison of this injector, and a normal injector, and
the normal injector looked like a garden hose, while the new injector looked
like steam was coming out. They have had some very promising results with this
in that their efficiency was approaching that of a four stroke engine, and
the emissions were already good enough to pass EPA tests (needless to say, this
is not a two stroke engine using a gas-oil mix).
