Complete motors go for about $1,000.00 (salvage) in Mississippi, if you can
find one. A nation wide salvage parts store quoted a complete manifold for
about $400.00. I know of at least one hill-billy who pulled the motor out of
his IROC and bent a ram tube. Yes, he tied the chain to the ram tube. After
finding out the price of a replacement tube, he simply threw away the whole
intake and replaced it with a carb & manifold. Rumor has it that his parents
were related to each other prior to their marriage.

A buddy of mine in Lakeland/Orlando florida found a 5.7 TPI motor for
$850.00 and a 5.0L for $750 (no ecms).

You're on the right path bud. You might consider buying a complete total'd
car and selling the balance. Just to encourage you, GM made well over
1,000,000 TPI units. The hill billies can't get them all.
