700R transmission help, not EFI

Do make sure you get a truck speedo gear holder from a 700R4 equipped
truck. It is aluminum not plastic.

To further your woes if an a 460LE is in your plans the
output shaft won't have shaft speedo gear. Also the gear
location switches places between a vette and the other
guys. Just put the gear and clip on the other location.

On console G body cars you can use #25051915 selector plate in
place of the stock one to show the gears.

Also if you have a 73 up GMC truck you could use the steering
column which is in my 85 with a bit of work which has OD.
