Doesn't the dwell time number depend on the type of ignition
you're using?  If you're using CDI, then dwell is not a factor,
as I understand it.  If you're using transistor ignition, then
the circuit is actually building up a magnetic field in the
coil until "currentus interruptus", producing the spark and dwell
would be a factor there.  In CDI, the charge is built up
in a capacitor and discharged through an SCR into the coil when
the spark is desired.

Do you know what type ignition you're using?  Does this have
any bearing on what you're doing?
