Absolutely it can.  Get yourself a flare kit (?) from Sears or somewhere.
It's a clamp that grabs the line, and a pointy thing that screws down and
flares the end of the line.  Also good for brake lines, trans cooler lines,
etc.  I got a cheap one for $12, I'd recommend spending more and getting a
good one.  Mine lets the line slip thru a little.

Also, the S-10 V8 swap manual from JTR says that the sizes of the fuel
lines (supply and return) affect how the pressure regulator works.  Don't
know why that would be, but it would mean that you can't change line sizes.
