Being as everybody's talking gas tank stuff, maybe I should mention that
I saw an example of a rig that the damn thing would run out of gas going
uphill when there was plenty left. It had a tank that ran with the cinterline of the car. After fighting that for a few years one night it quit at a friends
place so the tank got pulled.(Major pain in butt, under running boards.)
Thinking he was cool the owner grabbed a fuel line out of a porsche that
appeared to be 10mm as opposed to the damn near 1/16 oe tank suply line
and bent it up so it went to the bottom rear of the tank. Now he thinks
he's KOOL! Doesn't run out of fuel when stomped or uphill anymore.
So one day he's out cutting wood and has about 5 tons on the back
and the mud gets so deep the truck just goes down the hill sideways. He
leaves it there till winter when it's froze up. Comes to get it and it
won't start. Local loony with ls-1 454 laugh's at him when sez "stuck".
The loony hooks a NYLON tow rope to and proceeds to donate about 1/3
the rubber off his TSL Swampers. Figures HE"LL fix that, and grabs chain.
He hooked the chain to the middle of his bumper and made a run for it
full bore. His bumper became a horseshoe, and he rocked the truck 3".
Anyhow, later the owner of the stuck rig came back with a fresh
battery and some time, and figured that it was parked on a slight downhill
and wasn't getting gas. Poured gas in, and started right up, and drove out
by itself.
If any of this sounds like the voice of expierience, it's entirely
coincidental!:-)
