Placement of heated O2 sensor

Howdy all,

A quick and simple question.  For a twin system, is it OK to fit a heated O2
sensor in the balance tube of the exhaust system ?  Or will the exhaust
gasses in this place not be a true indication of what is coming out (does
the air stand still in this tube) ?

The reason for me asking is that its a lot simpler for me to fit the sensor
in the balance tube rather than in one of the sides.  And the balance tube
is less than 200mm after the extractors.
