Hi George; The correct way to ajust the TV cable that compensates for
cable stretch and component wear (suggested by gm to be done every
30,000 miles) is to push in the tab at the ratchet and pull the cable
all the way short, then release the tab, get in the vehicle and then
push the accellerator pedal all the way to the floorl. This calibrates
the TV cable with your throttle system. If you use the throttle body to
determine WOT then you are not taking into account wear, flex whatever
in the throttle cable system. If you have changed torque curve
characteristic then the lenth or the lever arm is the easyest way to
adjust the shift points. Every click of the cable is approx 2 lbs of tv
pressure. If you have changed your final drive ratio then a governor
change may be necc. Gov pressure is related to road speed and pushes
against TV oil to determine shift points and firmness (4l60) 4l60e uses
the pcm. Mark.
