Chris, there are a couple of issues at work here. The truck TBI's have
swirl port heads, and also a conventional hydraulic cam. It is my
understanding that those heads are limited in high end performance.
This weekend I completed my Astrovan V8 swap. It is a TBI setup, but I
have introduced a ZZ3 hydraulic roller cam to the mix. It is a bit early
to tell what's going to happen as I'm still swatting bugs and breaking
in the engine....but TPI alone may not give you all that you are
after. I suspect all the modules would be just fine. Hit an auto
parts store on a slow night, & I think you will see that "one size fits
many".
Note that the TPI intake may not bolt right up to your older (pre 86?)
heads...different bolt angles. Opinions differ as to the durability of
wobbling out the holes, angled washers etc.
If you've done an S-10 swap, I'm sure you know that these swaps are not
trivial.
Nevertheless, that is a good price for all those goodies.
