Hello,

dyi_efi lurker here.

Me: An "untrained" wrench puller for the last 20 years. Even made a living
at it for 3 or 4 years. Now, a "computer geek" (Now I even make part of my
living pedalling PC's, parts, etc). In short - Jack of many trades, master
of none. But I have fun.

I've lurked here for a week or so. This message isn't directly related to
"diy_efi" but I believe this list is loose enough that my project fits
within the list rules.

May I impose upon you all for a few thoughts on the following project:

'84 Pontiac Fiero with a transplanted 2.8 V6 MPFI from a later-year car of
the same make (the 84 was never offered with a V6). To be completely
accurate, the short block is from an 84 Citation, which has a lower
compression ratio and a few other performance un-enhancing features.

My "big idea" is to install a turbo unit from a Chrysler Laser (2.2?), or
something or other. It's a basically run-of-the-mill Garrett Trubo, at any
rate. I don't know what the boost is, but it has to be fairly minimal, maybe
8 to 10 pounds. I have the turbo unit in the garage, on the floor. It's
all I can do not to drool on it... :)

I can, indeed, plumb the turbo in, as far as the exhaust, oil, intake,
mounting and coolant is concerned.

*My problem - the Fiero ECM. The unit in question is the original, correct
unit for the engine ('86 2.8). I can only assume that as far as the ECM is
concerned, the engine will have gone "totally haywire" when the manifold
starts seeing pressure as opposed to vacuum. MAP sensor sort of sprngs to
mind. As I said at the beginning of this diatribe, if anyone has any
thoughts on this project, I'd be grateful.

Gracias, in advance.
