How are you doing the swap? Do you have a complete 3.1L or just the
block? If you have the whole engine, it's easy. If you are swapping
parts from the 2.8 to the 3.1 it won't be so easy.

If you plan on swapping the whole engine, get everything you can from
the 3.1L, including the accessories, brackets, charcoal can, ECM,
engine wiring harness, etc. That'll make it as close to a drop in as
possible. The only wiring you'll have to do is where the engine
harness mates with the body harness at the firewall. Get the factory
service manual for both vehicles and you can easily figure out what
wires go where.

It may seem like overkill getting everything, but it'll be easier in
the long run. Otherwise you'll find problems like your old brackets
won't bolt to the new motor, or the old accessories won't work with
the new brackets, or the connectors are all different and you have to
search the junkyards for mates (or spend a fortune buying new ones),
etc.

I did a similar thing to my S-10, only it was a 5.7L TBI motor.
Wahoo!
