my experience is that OPTIMUM flowrates are most efficient, and this is
usually achieved (in cars) with a stock type thermostat installed. A look
at medium trucks, which share basic engines with larger cars shows a much
larger rad with (sometimes) two 'stats in parallel for the extra flow.
Consider the average load on the two types of engines to understand the
whys...
