Later Lucas EFI systems use a stepper motor control valve to by-pass the
butterfly it works fairly well. The trouble is that it is not a stand alone
unit as the valve seating is in the throttlebody and the available throttle
bodies (Rover 820SEi, Montego EFI, Range Rover) would be far to small for the
Jag.
On the other hand a wax bulb is pretty simple and effective.
