There's a number of "Physics' effects, laws, etc." that apply to the path
of air going through any intake tract. 

1 - Boyle's Law, the PVT one we've discussed here. The Law is that PV/T
remains constant. 

2 - Pascal's Law, that the pressure of a fluid within any vessel is equal
on any all points. As we're dealing with a compressable gas rather than a
liquid this Law doesn't hold fast but should be considered. 

3 - Bernoulli's Principles - deals with flow through orifices
(restrictions) 

4 - Venturi effects - make a (lowly) carburator work, not typically
applicable to Fuel Injection systems.


The old Physics textbook "University Physics" by Sears/Zemansky is an
excellant source of info on this and can be found at used bookshop for a
couple $.
