Why clean a leaded up sensor? A new one costs no more than:

1-wire $20
2-wire $33
3-wire $41
4-wire $53

if you shop around to places like Pep Boys etc. When I needed a 3-wire I
found a cooperative guy at a slow Parts America and determined the P/N for
the cheapest 2 and 4 wire sensors that had the longest harnesses. Then i
just cut my stock sensor off right at the sensor body and the plug off the
new unit right at the plug. I used "butt" splices to splice it. Since the
wire was pretty long, it allowed me to put the splice well up and away
from road spray etc. See below for info:
