Well, maybe tootsie roll metallurgy was a factor but the lifter geometry
in chevy blocks was incredibly sloppy for years - A good trick when
re-doing
chevy lifter bores is to go to .875 lifters (sb ford), except that it's
not
unusual to need to move the center more than .875 allows...
