I just joined the list, so by way of introduction...

I'm a software guy, and I'm just getting started on the electronics
aspect, so I'm building my system in several stages, learning as I
go.

My plan is to come up with a complete engine management system for
my '73 914/6 (conversion, using a '73 2.4L 911T engine w/CIS).

My first stage will be data acquistion. The hobbyist outfits
appear to be a good source for a number of the required sensors
(hall-effect, pressure sensors, etc). However, I'm wondering
if there's a good source for some of the more specific parts
that are commonly used in automotive use, like throttle position
sensors. This could certainly be made, but using a ruggedized
off-the-shelf auto unit seems to be a good idea. Where would
I find these in single quantity?

My original thought was to simply replace the CIS airflow sensor
with an actuator, retaining the stock fuel pump, regulator,
fuel distribtor, injectors, manifolding, and throttle body.
This seems to be very cost-effective, if a good control solution
could be devised. It should allow good control while
eliminating the airflow restriction and cam timing limitations
of CIS.

However, someone in the archives mentioned adapting EFI
injectors to the ports used by the CIS injectors. Can anyone
supply any detail on this? Which injectors? Are adapters
required, or are there Bosch EFI units that match the CIS
injectors as far as mounting requirements?
