BTW, Analog Devices make a nice chip for interfacing
thermocouples, the AD597.  About $4 each if you are
prepared to use an 8 pin surface mount.
One of these, a relatively simple PIC based board,
an lsm11, an EGT thermocouple and you'd have a pretty
accurate meter!

Sounds like the lsm11 isn't too much more expensive
than what they ask for some normal Bosch sensors -
about $140 for my car!
