1949 validation

In the archives Seth Allen mentioned doing some testing using 
a 1949, and used a .47 ohm sensing resistor, and 15K, and .1
mfd cap. are these as good of values as any?.  If it is for
sensing is it really critical?/and would it really matter if for
peak+hold vs saturated injectors?.  After the thread about
switching types, this would be good for either right?.
