Addon computers to the ECU.

i am working on a computer that will be able to modify the signals to and from 
my ECU in my supra i am planning on using a custom PC built into a large Car 
Stereo amp. Case,  5" LCD display,  Custom PCI  Expansion Board and cable 
to connect between the wire harness and ECU, Software by me, and BeOS as 
the operating system, 
is there anyone that has tried something like this? if so could they share notes 
with me?
