You can use the LM1949 to do that, but you end up with extra parts. You can
(according to the data sheet) do PWM with the LM1949, but it is not
recommended for driving things that have long wires attached to it.  Lots
of noise generated by PWM stuff especially with nice long unshielded wires
to an injector. Just let the transistor get hot, and be done with it. The
IR62XX will limit at the max current of the supported device, so that won't
work. No really nice easy parts like that can be had.
