Digital Distributorless Ignition system

Hi everyone,

I was just looking at the above mentioned project on the DIY-EFI site. It looks like a
very interesting system, and one which I would very much like to make!

I have no trouble coding in assembler, or using a soldering iron... but I have no real
experience building a project such as this. I would like to chuck the distributor
altogether (marelli electronic ignition on alfa 1.5ltr boxer motor) and reference off
the flywheel using some sort of inductive pickups??

If someone could point me in the right direction I'd be forever grateful... also like
to hear from people who have put the system together and use it.
