This is exactly what Cosworth did with the RS500 turbo Sierras, a second set
of injectors are mounted in the side of the inlet plenum, facing down the
inlet trumpets. I gather that at high air flow/speed there is actually
benefit in injecting this far back from the engine, supposed to improve fuel
vapourisation and burn.  For standard production (220 bhp ish) the second
set were not wired, but had to be fitted for competition homologation, when
they were then used for elevated horsepower (500+ in touring cars etc.)
