Thats the way it seems to have happened, and that is why I wonder if they
actually put it in the shop manuals. Maybe a first edition?

IIRC, Rambler [ yes, the pre-hearse transportation people] also used it.
It seems they were going thru one of their performance-angst moods at the
time.
