	I believe UK models are the same as our Hong Kong models, being 
RHD and under the same set of emission control rules. On our cars, they do
not
need to be OBD compatible. This is only an America legislation. All new
Mercs, BMW,
and even all Jap cars sold here do not have OBDII type of check connectors.
So, you might be stuck with the lrage round diagnostic socket under the
bonnet.
