The SSI Chip is still in production and some suppliers are still able to get
them. Unfornately TDK who now owns the sub division of SSI that
manufactures the chip will not take on new distributors and will only meet
demand produced by current distributors. The chip is as good as the data
sheet makes it out to be. I'm currently constructing the SSI evaluation EFI
system that they sold for $2500 to developers when the chip was first
released. It is not done as of this time, but I am aware of others who have
used the chip with success. I will be happy to answer any other questions
you may have on the chip, but I will admit I am far from an expert on it.
