On my car, it backs off 2.7 deg at the first sign of knock, or more
correctly, when it thinks it has detected knock. This applies
to all cylinders! It advances 1.3 deg at a time after a few seconds.
The code is really buggy... I'm sure it's not doing what the designers
intended, but the errors cause it to retard more and/or longer than
it should. A later version has fixed some of these errors.
Now this ECU also has 6 degrees of advance over what I would
expect at 5500 RPM. Guess where max power is specified...
