detonation sensor

In the early 80's Carter made a kit to add a knock sensor to any engine. I
bought an NOS one still shrink wrapped a few months ago. Installed it on my 71
Chevy 350 with HEI ignition. Was an easy install, and it eliminated the pinging
that I had on heavy part throttle loads. Made the engine less sensitive to gas
quality.

It had a sensor I mounted on the intake manifold (I know the block would have
been better, but I followed the directions) and an electronics module that
connects between the points or ignition module and the coil. It had two
adjustments: Number of cylinders, and sensitivity.
