The defendants in the complaint were Polaris and Fuji Heavy Industries. As
of February, 1998, the patent infringement claim was dismissed. The trial
resulting in a judgement pertained to intellectual property rights
(disclosure of trade secrets) for the original design. Fuji was ordered to
pay the plaintiff $3.4 million in compensatory damages. The 45.6 million
judgement awarded against Polaris is under appeal. This information was
