 On turbo applications running high boost/big cams has anyone
 here actually had a problem with not being able to retard the
 timing enough to make max HP, due to an intake tract popping
 occuring?  ie lighting the open intakes AF mixture.
   Not with oem cams, but longer duration aftermarket stuff.
 
 Other than for individual cylinder timing control is there any reason
 to go to individual coils?.

Hiya Bruce,
     Seems to me the magic number was to not open the intake valve more than
40 degrees BTDC,,,,otherwise BOOM when the overlap cycle ignites the fuel
mixture because of too much mass flame trying to exit the exhaust
port.......Blowers tend to get real expensive when you think it's something to
do with the AFR and not the camshaft....hth's
