Negatory on Powr-Lok. That started out patented and trademarked as the
Thornton Powr-Lok. Thornton was a Brit. firm. First got swallowed by
Salisbury, Then Salisbury (also Brit) got swallowed by Dana-Spicer. DAMN
fine unit, likely the best clutch type limited slip (possible exception to
Auburn gear's unit) ever made-but expensive. Not to be confused in any way,
shape or form with American made "Trac-Loks", also available from Spicer,
some of which now seem to be using "Power-Lock " (note sp.) as an alias
(see Dana 80).
More stories available on folks like Browne , Lipe, others and why
auxiliary trannies are known as "Brownies".
The original Quadra-Trac used a cone clutch type limited slip, which was
prone to chatter BADLY if anybody ever got the least bit wrong oil into
it!! Not all that good a unit.
