FYI

I have a 300 HP Chevy Crate motor installed in my 87 K5 Blazer- TBI.

This list (the people) have been EXTREMELY helpfull in getting this thing
to run... Thanks!

I recently asked a question about Cat convertors and their effectiveness.
Now I can report my findings.

I purchased a brand new Cat from Summit Racing-- the best one they had.

Here are the smog readings before installing the Cat.

Idle
HC: 682 PPM
CO: 5.75 %
CO2: 11.2 %
O2: 7.3 %

And After Cat installation
Idle
HC: 23 PPM
CO: 0.00 %
CO2: 15.3 %
O2: 3.6 %

Most people said that a Cat may reduce HC 300 PPM or so but most thought
600 PPM would be too much for any cat to handle... needless to say, I am
pleasantly surprised.

Conclusion:
Goal #1 reached... SMOG check passed...!
