return line to gas tank

Gene,
    I was in a local Junkyard the other day, and I saw a possible solution
to your fuel pickup problem. There was a VW Jetta(as I recall) on it's side
(tranny removal) and I was looking at the fuel pump setup on it. It was
similar to a Ford setup with a low pressure pump in the tank going to an
external high pressure pump a few feet away. Between them was a small
"reservour." That way, even if the first pump fails to pick up for a second
or two, the higher pressure pump still has fuel available. The "reserviour"
MAY have been a filter, but it looked AWFULLY big to me - are there square
shaped filters out there? Anyways, hope this helps.
Jon
