This is a posting off another list. I've seen PID mentioned a bunch
in the archives, and figured this might be useful to someone doing
 such things.

 None PID,
I've had a thought, and lately several others have mentioned
similiar ideas, and was wondering if now is the time to try something.
Building our own program for use in a gm ecm.
With all this talent, it would seen possible to "just" (and I fully,
understand what a miss leading word just is), edit together
the code from some existing ecms, for our own use?..

Maybe come up with our own stuff for a flash prommed ecm.
Figure out how to defeat the "I don't like you, lock up mode".
Even if it involved a chip change, having a chipless ecm sounds
neat. A older ecm with a emulator and SRAM is close, but
if we as a group did a flash pcm, it would be the ultimate.
Maybe do it in modules, ie engine first, work out a batch fire,
maybe TBI+TPI for 4-6-8, and Dissy/DIS, for openers. Then
the tranny management, and finally a full blown misdetection
4 O2 system, 1-2-3 BAR MAPs, edition.. Sure would beat
6 guys working on 6 ecms that noone else is really interested
in. If we could come up with one program that with slight
modification, could be used on anything.

Since this is just an idea, for doing a study, and I looking just for
ideas, e-mail, if you'd rather not be exposed to too much banter.....
No folks this will not deter current plans, as this will take alot of
 time to engineer.
 Cheers

Hiya Bruce,
I had always thought it would be pretty neat to incorporate the
code/lookup tables from a syclone computer into the 8625 type processor that
has trans controls, write software for the end user, make harness's and sell
the things in the aftermarket...I would think that this would remove GM from
all rights to sue as their code is technically been changed more than
10%,,,there is a cylinder select in the Syclone processor(lookup tables) and I
have used it on a V-8(sorry v-10 or larger not possible)........a little
feedback......group thoughts???
