The torque converter (or fluid coupling) is inside the transmission. This is
probably the roto-hydramatic. The flywheel looks like a manual tans type and
like you said it connects to the trans with what looks like a clutch disk,
Full sized cars used this trans also
up to 1964. I have two from a  1964 Pontiac Catalina 389
