If you type "vats and disable" into the archive search engine you'll
come up with this from John Hess:


Change EPROM Memory address &H0016 from &H10 to &H00
Subtract &H10 from what you find at EPROM Memory address &H0007 
write the resulting file back to the EPROM.

Address &H0016 is the VATS
Address &H007 is the low byte of the Checksum.

good luck.

You can also build an oscillator circuit for about a dollar that fools
the vats, or if you have the original key you can measure the resistance
of the resistor pellet and solder a resistor of the same value right
into the harness.
