It was a joke, actually, in response to someone posing as a GM engineer
asking the list to help him design a 555 EFI circuit.  It can't be
done.  The minimum set of gates to implement "all" boolean functions is
2 input gate and an inverter.  You can build AND and OR gates from
diodes, but you can't build an inverter (AFAIK), hence a CPU or any
other non-trivial digital circuit can't be implemented with diodes only.
