Heres a nice snippet of info on the principles of
Zirconia bases sensors

It's based on a single solid type but I think the electrical charateristics
are the same. I got lots of stuff on ion pump bases sensors which I'm
putting
together and will post soon. I dont want to embaress my self to soon, I
found
myself earlier looking at the circuit diagrams for the Gallileo space probe
wondering what all those MANY MANY servos where for. It uses an [ion pump]
for its
mass spectrometer by the way, and I was looking at the diagrams titled "ion
pump":)
