Hi, Rich.  

Sounds like the guys running large displacement engines or
superchargers are finding the MAF sensor is only effective part of the
time.  It doesn't take long for the engine to start using  more air
than the sensor was designed to measure. Once the sensor's maxxed out,
the ecm can only make it's best guess for fuel.  Sometimes the best
guess is helped by add on injectors, or rising rate fuel pressure
regulators.  

Bruce's suggestion is to use the ECM from a GMC Syclone or a
turbocharged Pontiac Sunbird.  This ecm (part no. 1227749) uses a MAP
sensor and can be used for an 8 cylinder engine.  You might think
about converting over.
