By altering the reference pressure. On could for example do this by
using a pulsed injector with variable duty cycle on the return side.
It's simpler than trying to adjust the pressure continuously; and
just as effective with continuous injection.
The KE-Jetronic and K-Motronic systems use(d) a variable current to
provide the pressure regulation.
