advantages of electronic throttle

The following are advantages of ETC (electronic throttle control) from a
manufacturer's 
point of view:

You don't need a separate actuator for cruise control or traction control.
Saves about $50-100 each.

Downsides are the double and triple redundant systems to prevent runaway.
That is starting to settle down to double redundant.

Suzuki use 2 butterflies in each throttle body, The bottom one is controlled
by the throttle cable and the upper one is controlled by the ECU, This means
if the TPS has a fit it is not a problem. The bike may not go but that is
better than won't stop.
