LT1 ignition coils

I've been looking at the coil used on the late model LT1 - its a bit 
different than the typical single output coil which typically has two pins 
for primary side supply and return..  It has four input pins which appear to 
both be primary winding circuits.  Anyone know how this coil is constructed 
and how it works ?
