Twin coils for extra grunt

I read this in a  car book, and is an old Jag trick.
wire up two coils,>positive to positive and negative to negative, plus the
normal inputs, and blank off one coils open end(where the lead goes) with
epoxy.
so now the primary voltage has no option but to collapse back into the first
coils primary and thus increase the "grunt" of the spark.
the author tried this on a very worked ford clevo, and gained 6HP over a
single coil...

dose it work ?
