Twin coils for extra grunt

Yes it does work ! But it is not about extra 'grunt' as you call it. You can
increase the voltage of the spark by widening the gap it has to jump (this can be
done in the dizzy or with one of those in-line spark boosters, the greater the gap
the higher the voltage rise from the coil)
The twin coil idea as used on the Jag gives a lower impedance and higher current
flow/rate of change, but the main advantage comes from the 'ringing' effect of
having two coils in parallel, this extends the spark duration, ensuring against
plug fouling and a good burn. It works well too on low revving over square motors
with large diameter pistons (100mm+)
