I'm new to the list, but I saw the post and it somewhat applies to me. I'm
a senior mechanical engineering student on my school's FormulaSAE team. My
main task for the team is to source/program the ECU and tune the engine on
our dyno.
If you're familiar with FormulaSAE, you know there is a displacement
restriction. The engine we use is a 600cc Honda CBR F4 engine converted to
EFI. In cubic inches, 600cc is roughly 36 ci.
The main pitfalls we've had are making throttle bodies the proper size to
get good TPS resolution, and finding fuel injectors that are capable of
accurately and repeatably injecting a small enough quantity of fuel. Being
new to the team, however, my personal experience in those areas is limited.
I joined this list in hopes of furthering my knowlede, as most of my current
knowledge comes from reading logbooks of others and talking with former team
members.
Good luck with your project,
