"what do these air-shrouded injectors look like?  is it a typical intermittent (pulsed rail) injector"

They look basically like most other fuel injectors except that they also have a second connector on the side from the body where the air line fits onto them. They basically get plumbed in between your air metering sensor and the throttle body. The pressure differential is what draws air through them to help atomize the fuel.
